PRACTICAL MANDARIN PART 1
(20-22 Hours)
This is the first part of a new set of conversational courses, designed to teach practical Mandarin language skills in a quick and efficient way. Apart from teaching the fundamentals of the language, such as the phonetics, tones, and the PINYIN system of writing, the course will also cover topics that are crucial for a foreigner interacting with China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong. Common courtesies, introductions, numbers, telephone conversations, ordering food in a restaurant, and asking for directions, are among the topics covered. About 175 words and simple sentence constructs will be covered. Course material, home assignments, and class quizzes are included as part of this course.
PRACTICAL MANDARIN PART 2
(20-22 Hours)
This is the second part of a new set of conversational courses, designed to teach practical Mandarin language skills in a quick and efficient way. This course will build on the foundation created by Practical Mandarin Part 1, and cover some more topics such as dates, clock time, travel, health, making comparisons, etc. In the process, about 175 more words and new sentence constructs will be covered. Course material, home assignments, and class quizzes are included as part of this course.
Byte-sized Mandarin 1
(12 Hours)
This short conversational Mandarin course for beginners, could serve as the perfect launch pad for your Mandarin learning journey, with minimum time and money investment from you. This short-term course would teach you Mandarin phonetics, tones, about 125-160 words, and an equal number of sentences. Common courtesies, how to introduce oneself, numbers, introduction to Chinese characters, and dates would be among the topics covered. In addition, it would teach you Mandarin sentence syntax, to empower you to confidently construct your own sentences. In the event that you travel to a Chinese-speaking country like Mainland China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong after the course, you would be able to break the ice with native Chinese people in no time (and in return receive a lot of warmth, we guarantee!). You will also be able to read Chinese flight numbers, room numbers, road numbers, telephone numbers, etc. As an added bonus, you would get useful insights about this ancient language and Chinese culture.
Byte-sized Mandarin 2
(12 Hours)
This short conversational Mandarin course is the sequel to Byte-sized Mandarin 1. It would add to the base that you have already built. Bigger numbers, Chinese currency, asking prices, shopping, bargaining, ordering food at a restaurant, telling the time, scheduling meetings (official and unofficial), using public transport, and checking in at a hotel, would be among the topics covered. In the process, 125-160 new words and an equal number of sentences, would be taught. In short, at the end of the course, you will be well-equipped to travel to China and be self-sufficient for all your basic needs.
